NJ Woman Uncovers Possible World Record Message in a Bottle
Amy Smyth Murphy discovered a bottle with papers inside, potentially dating back to 1876, at Corson’s Inlet State Park in Ocean City, NJ. If verified by Guinness World Records, it could be the oldest message in a bottle. The bottle, found during Independence Day weekend, embossed with "Barr & Brother Philadelphia," was in operation between the 1860s and 1870s. One paper mentions "W.G. & J. Klemm," a business dissolved in 1881. The other refers to a yacht named "Neptune," captained by Samuel Gale in Atlantic City during the late 1800s. Murphy has applied to Guinness World Records to verify her find, a process that could take months. Murphy, who enjoys the research, has shared her journey on TikTok and considers writing a book about the discovery.
Summer Tradition Continues: Howard Street Ramble Ignites Cape May Evenings with Live Music
Every Thursday evening from Memorial Day to Halloween, the Howard Street Ramble captivates locals and visitors alike with lively performances on the balcony of Cape May's historic Chalfonte Hotel. This event, known as "The Ramble," features extensive jam sessions that draw large crowds, who enjoy the music and dance in the streets. Chris Gillin-Schwartz, a lawyer by day and musician by night, founded the event a decade ago, initially performing solo before expanding to include other musicians. The ensemble, which often plays improvisational music reminiscent of the Grateful Dead, creates a dynamic atmosphere that resonates with attendees. Despite challenges such as managing large crowds and maintaining neighborhood peace, the event remains a beloved weekly celebration of community and music in Cape May.

Kyle Schwarber Smashes Three Homers as Phillies Defeat Dodgers 9-4
Kyle Schwarber's three-home run game propelled the Philadelphia Phillies to a 9-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers, marking their first series win since early July. Schwarber's seven RBIs were pivotal, with his homers igniting the Phillies' offense. A controversial obstruction call against the Dodgers led to manager Dave Roberts' ejection, highlighting a key moment in the game. The Phillies, now 68-46, look to maintain their momentum in upcoming series.
