This once-secret bunker, built in 1941 and revealed to the public in 2008, served as a vital defense post against German U-boats and was part of the larger Harbor Defenses of the Delaware during the war. Despite its rich history, restoration efforts for the bunker have been stalled due to financial constraints and environmental concerns related to local endangered bird species. Additionally, the site, along with the associated Fire Control Tower No. 23, holds a layer of local lore, including personal accounts of possible hauntings, enriching its historical narrative as a preserved military relic.

Disruptive Pool Incident Leads to Multiple Charges for Woman in Wildwood Crest

A Philadelphia woman, Fallan Turner, age 43, faces multiple charges after a disruptive incident at the Waikiki Oceanfront Inn's pool in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey. The charges include endangering the welfare of children, aggravated assault on law enforcement, disorderly conduct, and criminal sexual contact. According to witnesses, Turner, who appeared highly intoxicated, assaulted several people, including a child, and caused a disturbance at the motel pool. She reportedly swung a 10-year-old boy around in the pool and assaulted his father when he intervened. Turner also allegedly attacked and bit a police officer during her arrest. She is currently held at the Cape May County Correctional Facility.
