Cape May Crews Prevent Spread of Car Fire Near Broadway

Early Friday morning, firefighters from the Cape May Fire Department joined forces with the West Cape May Volunteer Fire Company to tackle a vehicle fire along Broadway. Crews responded promptly and worked efficiently to bring the blaze under control. The swift collaboration between departments ensured the fire was contained quickly, preventing it from spreading to nearby vehicles or buildings. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident. At this time, the cause of the fire has not been disclosed.

South Jersey Wildfire Grows to 1,000 Acres, Half Contained

A wildfire in Vineland’s Peaslee Wildlife Management Area has expanded to 1,000 acres but is 50% contained. No structures are threatened, though local roads are closed. Despite the fire's rapid spread, no homes or buildings have been damaged, and authorities have not issued any evacuation orders. However, several road closures are in effect, including Union Road between Route 49 and Mays Landing Road, as well as Bennetts Mill Road between Union Road and the Manumuskin River. To combat the wildfire, the Forest Fire Service has mobilized a range of resources, including fire engines, bulldozers, and ground crews. A helicopter capable of dropping 300 gallons of water and an air tanker with a 600-gallon capacity are also being used to fight the flames from above.
