Cape May Bridge Commission Schedules Overnight Work on Grassy Sound Span

The Grassy Sound Bridge will be closed to vehicles overnight from 10 p.m. on April 17 to 6 a.m. on April 18 for maintenance. Although the bridge will be closed to vehicles, the maintenance will not interfere with marine traffic. Boats requiring a drawbridge opening to pass beneath will still be accommodated during the overnight work period. The overnight shutdown was announced by the Cape May County Bridge Commission, which operates the Grassy Sound Bridge.

New Jersey Assembly Pushes Toll Exemptions for Disabled Veterans

A bill introduced in the New Jersey Assembly would exempt certain disabled veterans from paying E-ZPass tolls on the state’s major highways. Eligible veterans must have a New Jersey-registered vehicle, a “Disabled Vet” license plate, and an active E-ZPass account. The exemption would apply to tolls collected by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and South Jersey Transportation Authority. The initiative is designed to ease travel for veterans who meet the criteria and would officially go into effect 90 days after being signed into law.

Slower Summer Booking Season Leaves More Jersey Shore Rentals Available

Summer rental bookings at the Jersey Shore are off to a slower start this year, with many vacationers delaying decisions. As demand stabilizes post-pandemic, more homes are still available and rates have leveled off after years of sharp increases. Premium properties with pools or pet-friendly features remain in high demand, but economic pressures are prompting both renters and homeowners to adjust their plans. For those still on the fence about renting, now may be the time to act. Last-minute planners are expected to start securing their spots in the coming weeks. Flexibility can also pay off—visiting in early June or after Labor Day can offer significant savings, sometimes up to 75% off peak season rates, while still enjoying pleasant weather and fewer crowds.
