“Give ’Em the Beans”: Coast Guard Cutter Crew Stands Ready in Cape May

The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Angela McShan, stationed in Cape May, plays a vital role in missions ranging from search and rescue to national security. The fast response cutter, with a 24-person crew, covers coastal waters from New Jersey to the Carolinas. The crew trains year-round, maintaining readiness for summer’s busy boating season. Named for a pioneering Coast Guard figure, the vessel symbolizes dedication and service. While often seen as a rescue service, officials stress the Coast Guard’s expanding role in defense and law enforcement. A modernization plan, Force Design 2028, aims to strengthen its future capabilities.
