Meters Go Live in Cape May: What Drivers Need to Know

OK, they’re back. Cape May’s parking meters are set to spring back into action starting April 1, marking the end of their winter hiatus. The meters will be operational across the city’s resort areas, enforcing paid parking daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through October 31. Drivers should know that the standard rate is 25 cents per 10 minutes. Stand-alone meters accept only quarters or payments through the ParkMobile app. Multi-space meters also accept credit card payments along with ParkMobile for added convenience. The city offers a brief five-minute grace period at all meters before a vehicle is subject to an overtime violation, giving drivers a small buffer to avoid fines.

“Blessing of the Waters” Returns April 5 to Remember Local Lives Lost at Sea

Cape May will once again pay tribute to its local fishing community during the annual “Blessing of the Waters” ceremony, a tradition held to honor fishermen who have lost their lives at sea. The remembrance will take place on Saturday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at the Fisherman’s Memorial, a solemn site located at the corner of Missouri and Baltimore avenues. This peaceful park overlooks Cape May Harbor and serves as a gathering place for reflection and remembrance. Along with honoring those who never returned, the ceremony includes prayers for the safety and success of the current fishing season, uniting the community in support of those who continue to make their living on the sea.

Soleil Resort Proposes 111 Luxury Units Near Ocean City’s Beach

Soleil Resort, a proposed $25 million condo-hotel near the Ocean City Boardwalk, is now listed for sale. Approved for 111 upscale units, each expected to sell for over $1 million, the project would offer luxury amenities like a spa, fitness center, restaurant, and room service. Positioned near the beach and local attractions, Soleil could appeal to high-end buyers but may also raise questions about Ocean City’s evolving landscape. Though the site isn’t directly on the Boardwalk, its proximity to the beach and Ocean City’s main attractions ensures strong appeal. At the same time, the project’s scale and price point could spark community debate about how large-scale, luxury development might influence the character of a town long cherished for its traditional, small-town charm. If completed, Soleil Resort would mark a significant addition to the Ocean City skyline, signaling a potential shift toward more resort-style living at one of the Jersey Shore’s most iconic destinations.
