East Lynne Theater Company to Transform Restored Church into Cultural Venue

The historic Allen A.M.E. Church in Cape May, heavily damaged by fire in 2018, is nearing the end of its city-led renovations. The East Lynne Theater Company is set to take over the property, transforming it into a performance center. A fundraising campaign aims to secure $1.2 million for further renovations, including a stage and backstage areas. The church, built in 1888, has deep ties to Cape May’s Black history and abolitionist movement. Plans include theater performances, exhibits, and interactive arts programming. During restoration, a handwritten note from 1891 and other historical artifacts were discovered.
Mystery Boom in Cape May: Military Jets May Be the Cause

Residents in the Cape May area reported hearing a loud boom and feeling shaking around 3 p.m. Monday, though no earthquakes were recorded. The phenomenon was experienced in multiple towns, with some people reporting multiple booms. A supersonic T-38 Talon aircraft was flying offshore around the same time, leading to speculation that the noise was military-related. Local police were aware of the incident, but no official explanation has been provided by military officials.
Federal Court Revokes Permit for New Jersey Offshore Wind Project
A federal court has revoked a key environmental permit for the Atlantic Shores offshore wind project off the New Jersey coast. The ruling follows a legal challenge from Save Long Beach Island, which argued that the project’s environmental review was inadequate. The decision is a major blow to the 200-turbine wind farm, which was set to begin construction this year. This setback adds to growing challenges for offshore wind in New Jersey, including project cancellations and financial struggles. Supporters warn that blocking clean energy projects could harm job creation and energy independence.
