Renowned Scientist Dr. Sean Burcher Joins Cape May Point Arts and Science Center

The Cape May Point Arts and Science Center has appointed Dr. Sean Burcher as its Director of Science. A South Jersey native with a background in nuclear physics and wildlife telemetry, he brings expertise in ecological research and technology development. Dr. Burcher has worked on conservation projects worldwide and currently develops wildlife tracking devices at Cellular Tracking Technologies. His leadership will support the Center’s mission of combining science, education, and the arts to promote environmental awareness and community engagement.
Cape May’s Congress Hall Accused of Failing to License Live Music
Congress Hall in Cape May is among 15 businesses nationwide facing copyright infringement lawsuits filed by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). The organization, which represents songwriters and music publishers, alleges the venue has not properly licensed performances of copyrighted music. ASCAP says it previously contacted the hotel about obtaining a license, which typically costs about $2 per day. Similar lawsuits have been filed against businesses nationwide. Congress Hall has not yet responded to the allegations.
Ocean City Recognizes First Responders at Public Safety Ceremony

Retired Ocean City Fire Chief Joseph Foglio received the inaugural Fire Service Lifetime Achievement Award on February 26 for his 31-year career and contributions to emergency services. The ceremony also honored first responders for their lifesaving efforts in various emergencies, including fires, medical crises, and water rescues. Firefighter Matthew Long was recognized for his deployment with New Jersey Task Force One to assist in Hurricane Helene rescue operations. The event also raised awareness about the elevated cancer risks firefighters face due to job-related chemical exposure.
