Grassy Sound Fishing Pier Set for Reopening by Early Summer

The Grassy Sound fishing pier is being completely replaced, with completion expected by early summer. The pier, a longtime favorite for fishing and crabbing, has been closed due to structural concerns. In 2023, Cape May County commissioners approved a full replacement of the structure using new timber to ensure safety and longevity. Middle Township will handle future maintenance, and the pier will remain free for public use.
NJ Senate Republicans May Sue Murphy Over Property Tax Relief Funds
New Jersey Senate Republicans are threatening to sue Governor Phil Murphy’s administration over alleged unconstitutional use of income tax revenue meant for property tax relief. Since 1976, New Jersey law has restricted the use of income tax revenue to property tax relief, but Republicans say the governor’s past budget proposals have disregarded this requirement. They pledged to work with affected communities and taxpayers if the next budget follows the same pattern. The legal threat comes ahead of Murphy’s upcoming budget proposal, setting the stage for a potential court fight.
