Fireworks Ignite as Blaze Engulfs Cape May Court House Storage Units

A fire at Burleigh Mini Storage in Middle Township damaged around 50 storage units Wednesday morning, prompting a large emergency response. It took several hours for nearly 100 emergency responders—including firefighters, police, EMS teams, and public works personnel—to bring the situation under control. The fire temporarily shut down Shunpike Road, which was reopened to traffic by 6 p.m. One person was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation, but no other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is ongoing by Middle Township police, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, the county Fire Marshal’s Office, and the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
Countdown to Spring: Warmer Days Are Almost Here in New Jersey

Spring is fast approaching, with the season officially beginning at 5:01 a.m. on March 20, 2025. Online countdowns offer a way to track the arrival of warmer weather. The March Equinox a brief time when both hemispheres experience nearly equal hours of daylight and darkness, inches closer. As New Jerseyans prepare to set their clocks ahead for daylight saving time, signs of spring’s arrival are just weeks away. The equinox signals the gradual return of longer days, milder temperatures, and the official start of spring activities. As nature begins to awaken, residents can look forward to blooming flowers, outdoor events, and the long-awaited shift away from winter’s chill.
Proposed NJ Law Would Remove Beach Badge Requirement for Ocean Access

New Jersey lawmakers are considering a bill that would clarify that beach badges are not required for swimming, surfing, or using wet sand. The proposal follows concerns over inconsistent enforcement of beach access laws and a high-profile arrest of a surfer last summer. While supporters say the bill reinforces public access rights, some lawmakers worry it could disrupt existing beach badge policies. Advocacy groups back the measure, arguing that access to the water should remain free. Additional revisions may be made as the bill progresses.
