Cape May County Must Add Nearly 1,000 Affordable Housing Units

Fifteen Cape May County municipalities have accepted the state’s calculation of their affordable housing obligations, totaling 992 units. The county is responsible for 30% of its regional need, with five towns accounting for the majority of the units. The next step for municipalities is to develop Fair Share Housing Plans, outlining how they will create housing opportunities to meet their obligations. These plans are due by June 30 and will serve as the basis for future zoning ordinances.
