Eagles Fan from Cape May Roasts Pig Dressed as Mahomes for Super Bowl Parade

Philadelphia fans are known for their passionate and creative celebrations, and this year’s Super Bowl parade was no exception. One Eagles fan from Cape May took team spirit to a new level by roasting a whole pig and dressing it up as Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Nicknamed "Patty the Pig," the roasted hog was adorned with a wig and had the number 15—Mahomes' jersey number—carved into its side. A piece was even sampled on live TV. The gesture was met with amusement and excitement, with many calling it a classic example of Philadelphia’s bold sports culture.

Cape May County Enforces Stricter Guidelines for Public Input, Limits Speech

Cape May County officials are tightening the rules on public comments during meetings, aiming to maintain order and efficiency. Commissioner Director Leonard Desiderio announced that speakers could lose their opportunity to speak if their remarks are overly aggressive, or disrupt the flow of the meeting. Additionally, audience reactions such as booing, clapping, or cheering will no longer be allowed. The new resolution states that such behavior is strictly prohibited. A digital timer has been introduced to enforce the five-minute speaking limit. The changes were passed unanimously among present commissioners, commissioner Will Morey was absent from the proceedings. At the most recent meeting, a resident was told he could not use his phone to relay his wife’s comments remotely. The ACLU may disagree with this move, according to guidance from the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey, public officials cannot restrict speech simply because they disagree with it. Additionally, residents must be allowed to speak on any matters of concern to their community.

Playland’s Castaway Cove Expands with New 20,000-Square-Foot Arcade

Playland’s Castaway Cove arcade is set to reopen in mid-April, four years after a fire destroyed the original building. The new 20,000-square-foot arcade, significantly larger than its predecessor, will feature 75 games and improved safety measures. Delays in construction and supply chain shortages extended the rebuilding process, but the project is now nearing completion. The return of the arcade is highly anticipated, especially following the closure of Gillian’s Wonderland Pier, leaving Playland’s as one of the few remaining amusement centers on the boardwalk.
