White House Confirms Shoreline Drone Activity is FAA-Authorized, Not a Threat

President Donald Trump addressed recent drone sightings over New Jersey’s coastline, confirming the drones were FAA-authorized for research purposes. Speculation about offshore wind projects and foreign interference was debunked, with officials assuring the public that the activity poses no threat. Hobbyist drones trying to investigate the sightings further contributed to the confusion. Federal agencies are monitoring compliance with safety regulations.

Wildwood Man Arrested After Threatening Police and Store Employees

Wildwood police arrested Ronald Norbeck after he threatened store employees and officers at a Rio Grande Avenue location. Store employees were able to safely exit the building while officers employed de-escalation techniques to manage the situation. Despite their efforts, Norbeck kept his hands concealed, made threats to officers, and encouraged them to use deadly force against him, police said. Norbeck refused to cooperate, claimed to have a gun, and threw a shovel at officers. Police subdued him using a conducted energy device. He faces charges including robbery, terroristic threats, and aggravated assault and is currently held at the Cape May County Correctional Center.

Ocean City Couple Wins Appeal for Controversial Waterfront Project

An Ocean City couple won an appeal allowing them to reconstruct their waterfront home and add 10 boat slips, despite long-standing opposition from Glen Cove residents. Despite the ruling, the project remains a point of contention in the community, with many residents concerned about the impact it could have on the lagoon’s character and use. Critics argue the slips could create a commercial marina in a lagoon meant for back-bay access. The Zoning Board ruled last week that no variance was required for the project.
