Cape May Stars in Bob Dylan Biopic but Gets No Credit in Closing Roll

Cape May, N.J., served as the backdrop for several key scenes in A Complete Unknown, a Bob Dylan biopic starring Timothée Chalamet. The town stood in for Newport, R.I., with iconic locations like the Victorian Motel, Congress Hall, and the Cape May-Lewes Ferry prominently featured. Despite its significant role, Cape May, the real star, was not mentioned in the film’s closing credits, leaving locals disappointed. While production brought economic benefits and exposure to the town, residents and business owners hoped for acknowledgment in the film. Director James Mangold and production designer François Audouy praised Cape May’s unique charm in interviews, but the lack of credit underscores a learning curve for the town in negotiating with major film productions.

‘ICE’ in New Jersey: Mayor Baraka Condemns ‘Unconstitutional’ Operation in Newark

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka condemned a recent ICE raid in the city, accusing federal agents of detaining undocumented individuals without warrants in violation of the Fourth Amendment. The operation, part of a broader federal initiative, targeted a local business, but city officials claim the methods used were unconstitutional. Baraka vowed to take action and announced plans for a press conference with civil rights organizations. The raid has intensified tensions between federal immigration enforcement and sanctuary city policies, with Newark officials reaffirming their commitment to protecting immigrant rights. ICE has not yet responded to the allegations.

Bollards, Cameras, and Lights: Wildwood Enhances Boardwalk Safety

Wildwood is enhancing security on its historic Boardwalk by installing fixed and removable bollards to prevent unauthorized vehicle access, improving lighting, and adding advanced security cameras. The upgrades, developed with local and state law enforcement, aim to address safety concerns and deter potential threats. Funding for these measures comes from various programs, with work already underway and additional installations planned through 2025. These efforts underscore Wildwood’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its residents and visitors.
