Cape May County Tops the Charts with Nearly 10 Inches of Snow in First Storm of 2025

The season's first snowstorm has left South Jersey blanketed in a picturesque layer of white, with Cape May County receiving the highest snowfall totals. While the winter landscape is undeniably beautiful, it brought with it the usual wintertime challenges—shoveling, slippery roads, and navigating traffic in less-than-ideal conditions. According to the National Weather Service, Cape May recorded the highest total, with nearly 10 inches of snow. Dennisville and Cape May Court House followed closely behind, each measuring 7.5 inches. Ocean City reported 7.4 inches, while Goshen saw 7.3 inches. Fortunately, no additional accumulation is expected, though some light flurries may still pass through.

Tradition Meets Fun at Ocean City’s New Year’s Day Polar Plunge

Ocean City welcomed 2025 with its annual First Dip, where hundreds of locals and visitors braved the chilly Atlantic waters. From longtime plungers like retired firefighter Brian Green to first-timers like student Vincenzo Ritchie, participants of all ages gathered for fun and tradition. Couples, families, and groups of friends joined in, some dressed in costumes and others simply looking for a fresh start to the new year. Despite the cold temperatures, the event’s festive atmosphere and sense of community shone through, making it a highlight of the holiday season.

Egg Harbor Township and North Wildwood Celebrate Big Lottery Wins

Two lucky South Jersey residents are kicking off 2025 in style after winning big with New Jersey Lottery scratch-off tickets. These winners are part of a growing list of nearly a dozen people statewide who have snagged impressive jackpots in the first few days of the new year. In Egg Harbor Township, a $25,000 prize was claimed from a winning Crossword Bonanza scratch-off ticket sold at the Lukoil gas station on Black Horse Pike and English Creek Avenue. Meanwhile, Cape May County celebrated its own win—a $10,000 prize from a $1,000,000 Diamond Spectacular ticket purchased at the Acme store on 26th & Delaware in North Wildwood. With more big wins on record, South Jersey players are hoping for a lucky streak to continue as the year unfolds.
