Rare Winter Wonderland: Snow Blankets Cape May

Cape May County received over eight inches of snow, with lower accumulations reported further north. The remainder of the week will feature frigid temperatures and gusty winds. Highs will remain well below the seasonal average of 41 degrees, with wind chills making it feel as cold as 0 to 10 degrees in the morning and between 15 and 25 degrees during the day. Although the skies will be sunny, the bitter cold will dominate outdoor conditions. Despite online chatter about a potential snowstorm on Friday, forecasters emphasize caution, as current models show less likelihood of a major event. Updates on potential weekend weather will follow in the coming days.

Snow Day Fun for Animals at Cape May and Cohanzick Zoos

Zoos across southern New Jersey closed on Monday due to a snowstorm but reported that animals made the most of the wintry weather. At the Cohanzick Zoo tigers, leopards, and wallabies enjoyed snowy playtime. Popcorn Park Zoo provided cozy enclosures for animals after their outdoor fun. The Cape May County Zoo and park, located in Cape May Court House, was one of several facilities across the state to close due to the snowstorm. While officials planned to remain closed through Tuesday, they encouraged visitors to check out animal activities in the snow through online updates. Some zoos may remain closed through Tuesday.
