Ocean City Explores Carnival and Family Activities to Fill Wonderland Void

Following the closure of Wonderland Pier in Ocean City, community members and city officials are brainstorming ways to revitalize the northern end of the boardwalk. Friends of OCNJ History & Culture has proposed a variety of temporary attractions, including carnivals, kite contests, splash pads, and drone light shows, to maintain foot traffic in the area. Developer Eustace Mita has pitched a controversial hotel project for the site, but no formal application has been made. As debates over the future of the site continue, the community is rallying to create engaging activities to fill the void left by the iconic amusement park.

After Years of Dedication, Stone Harbor Mayor Passes the Torch

Stone Harbor Mayor Judith Davies-Dunhour ended her term after decades of service, earning widespread praise for her integrity and commitment. Known for her groundbreaking career in law enforcement and leadership as mayor, Davies-Dunhour faced recent challenges with the council regarding an appointment which the council later reversed. Despite these challenges, Davies-Dunhour remains focused on the future. She will continue her long-standing role as manager of the county’s Animal Center and Adoption Center, a position she has held for 16 years. Reflecting on her decision not to seek reelection in 2024, she cited a desire to focus on other priorities, not the tensions with the council.
