$500K Yacht Beached in Stone Harbor, Safely Towed to Cape May
A 45-foot luxury yacht ran aground on the beach in Stone Harbor on Saturday night, prompting a rescue operation by the Stone Harbor Fire Department. The vessel, a Cruisers Yacht valued at approximately $500,000, was later towed to Cape May by Sea Tow Cape May on Sunday morning. The cause of the grounding remains unclear. Officials have not confirmed whether mechanical issues or another factor led to the incident.
Ocean City Bank Building Sale Sparks Interest, Unusual Bidding Process
The former Republic Bank building in Ocean City, closed after a corporate takeover, is now for sale through an unconventional process requiring prospective buyers to submit “letters of intent.” The glass-fronted building, located at Ninth Street and West Avenue, has drawn criticism for its modern design but occupies a prime location near downtown. Ownership remains with the FDIC, and City Council President Pete Madden has suggested the city consider purchasing the property for public use.
Radioactive Material Missing After New Jersey Shipment Incident
A small amount of radioactive Ge-68 material went missing during a shipment from a New Jersey cancer center. The package, intended for disposal, arrived damaged and empty. The shipment contained 0.267 millicuries (mCi) of Ge-68, an isotope used in PET scanner calibration to ensure accurate diagnostic imaging. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) was notified on December 3, and the incident was formally reported to the NRC on December 5. Although the material poses minimal risk to the public, officials from the NRC, NJDEP, and other agencies are actively monitoring the situation to ensure proper accountability and resolution.
