Cape May to Hoboken: Garden State Stars in Bob Dylan Biopic

The biopic “A Complete Unknown” explores Bob Dylan’s rise to fame, with New Jersey serving as a key filming location. Cape May doubles as Newport and filming took place here this past spring, while iconic diners, Hoboken’s Moran’s Pub, and various North Jersey towns provide the backdrop for scenes that recreate Dylan’s 1960s journey. The film, starring Timothée Chalamet, debuts on December 25.

Homeland Security Calls for Congressional Action on Nighttime Drone Oversight

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas attributes a rise in nighttime drone activity to a 2023 FAA rule change permitting drones to fly after dark with anti-collision lighting. While federal, state, and local authorities collaborate to address public concerns, Mayorkas called on Congress to expand the government’s regulatory authority over drones. The rule, aimed at boosting commercial drone use, has also sparked concerns over privacy and security.

New Jersey Bill Proposes Color-Coded IDs for Non-Citizens, Stricter Voter ID Rules

A New Jersey Senate bill aims to require distinct, color-coded IDs for non-citizens with statements indicating they are not valid for voting. The legislation also mandates voter ID requirements at polling stations and for mail-in ballots. Proponents argue the bill will bolster election security and eliminate confusion surrounding non-citizen identification documents. However, critics caution that such measures could create unnecessary obstacles for voters and non-citizens who rely on state-issued IDs. The proposed legislation also outlines penalties for presenting false identification and stipulates that non-citizen IDs cannot be used to question immigration status or as grounds for detention.
