The Cape May County Park and Zoo has introduced a male Ankole-Watusi calf born to parents Darla and Howie on November 6th. This is Darla’s second calf, following her first, Pumpkin. A naming contest for the calf is planned soon. Ankole-Watusi cattle, known for their large, cooling horns, originate from Africa and were brought to the U.S. in the 1900s. Visitors can view the calf with its herd on the Savanna Boardwalk. The zoo is open daily, except on Christmas.
Thanksgiving Blessing: Baby Born on Garden State Parkway with First Responders’ Help
First responders in South Jersey delivered a baby on the side of the Garden State Parkway on November 21. Joanna Elswick went into labor while traveling to a hospital, and with the assistance of Deputy Chief Brian Allegretto and local EMTs, baby Amelia Charlotte was safely born at 9:18 p.m., weighing 8 pounds and 7 ounces. The family expressed deep gratitude for the responders. Now a family of four, Elswick and Marsden are looking forward to reuniting with their older daughter and celebrating Thanksgiving together—a holiday made extra special by baby Amelia’s timely arrival.
