Ocean City, a Dry Town, Surprisingly Named NJ's "Drunkest City"

Of all places, Ocean City, New Jersey, has been named the state's "drunkest city" by Vine Pair, despite its status as a dry town where alcohol sales and public consumption are prohibited. A reported 23.3% of residents drink excessively. The irony of the title adds a surprising twist to the state's diverse nightlife culture. Despite restrictions, the study reports that 23.3% of Ocean City residents engage in excessive drinking. This statistic suggests that while the city enforces its dry-town status, residents may be going out of town or bringing alcohol home to indulge privately. The title is ironic, considering Ocean City’s reputation for family-friendly activities and strict alcohol policies. It seems this dry town might not be as "dry" as it appears on the surface.

New Jersey Turnpike and Parkway Tolls to Increase for Fifth Year in 2025

Drivers on the Garden State Parkway and NJ Turnpike will see tolls rise by 3% on January 1, 2025, marking the fifth consecutive year of such increases. Parkway tolls will cost an extra 8 cents at plazas and 3 cents at ramps, while Turnpike commuters will pay 32 cents more daily, or about $80 annually. The toll increases are part of the Turnpike Authority’s ongoing highway spending plan, which aims to fund road maintenance and improvements. Critics argue the hikes, coupled with other regional tolls, add undue financial strain on motorists.
