In Cape May County, NJ, local first responders pulled off a heartwarming rescue after a dog named Bruno became trapped in a strong tide far from the shore. Fire crews from Stone Harbor and North Wildwood received a call Monday afternoon about a dog struggling to swim in Hereford Inlet. There, Bruno was joyfully reunited with his owner, thanks to the swift and dedicated actions of the fire crews.
New Teen Curfew Passes in North Wildwood After Summer Incidents
North Wildwood, New Jersey, has enacted a permanent curfew for minors, following a final vote from city officials early Tuesday. The curfew mandates that individuals under 18 must stay off public streets from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., with parents held responsible if their unaccompanied children are found out during these hours. City leaders say the ordinance aims to reduce youth involvement in disturbances and violence after a spike in incidents last summer along the shore. The curfew intends to enhance safety and prevent further escalation in nighttime disturbances.
Off-Duty Firefighter-Police Officer Rescues Elderly Woman in Millburn Fire
An off-duty police officer and volunteer firefighter saved an 83-year-old woman from a burning home in Millburn, NJ. Officer Thomas Sweeney, without protective gear, entered the fire-engulfed house with two other officers, locating and rescuing the woman as heavy smoke filled the home. The woman, suffering burns, was hospitalized, and Sweeney’s actions were praised by his volunteer fire department for their bravery.
