Surprising Weather Rankings: Cape May Misses Top 100, Williamstown Wins Big

South Jersey boasts some of the best weather in New Jersey, with several towns ranked highly for their mild and sunny conditions. Williamstown tops the list, followed by Woodbury, Vineland, and other cities like Atlantic City and Ventnor. While Ocean City narrowly missed the Top 10, Cape May was notably absent from the Top 100, despite its famously favorable "Cape May Bubble." The rankings were based on factors like sunny days, average temperatures, and precipitation, with Atlantic City having the most sunshine at 294 days per year.

Father and Wife Injured in Shootout With Juveniles After Son's Attack in Atlantic City

Kevin Hollingsworth, 38, of Egg Harbor Township, is in jail following a shootout with juveniles who allegedly attacked his son in Atlantic City. Hollingsworth and his wife were both wounded in the confrontation outside a pizza parlor after his son identified the group as his assailants. Despite advice to go to the police, Hollingsworth brought a loaded gun, leading to a violent exchange where both sides fired shots. Prosecutors claim he instigated the incident, while his defense argues he was acting to protect his family. Hollingsworth faces weapons charges and will remain in custody.

Firefighters Battle Blaze at Villas Home, All Pets Rescued

A fire broke out at a two-story home on Redwood Avenue in Lower Township's Villas section on October 1, spreading from an outdoor deck to the attic. Firefighters managed to control the flames quickly. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, and all pets inside the home were safely rescued. Red Cross arrived to provide assistance to the displaced residents. The Cape May County Fire Marshal's Office is working alongside Lower Township police and firefighters to determine the cause of the fire.

Phillies and Mets to Face Off in Postseason for First Time in NLDS Showdown

For the first time, the Phillies and Mets will meet in the postseason as they face off in the NLDS. The Mets secured their spot after a 4-2 win over the Brewers, setting up a best-of-5 series starting in Philadelphia. The teams split their regular-season series, but the Mets have been on a hot streak, with standout performances from Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso. The series promises to be a fierce showdown between two longtime rivals.
