Hoagies Help Wawa Rank First in Nationwide Customer Satisfaction Study
Wawa was named the top U.S. convenience store in the inaugural ACSI Convenience Store Study, scoring 82 out of 100. (Of course, it was!)The study highlighted Wawa’s food quality, mobile app effectiveness, and customer satisfaction in both the Northeast and South. Health Experts Warn of Growing Heat Illnesses in Warming New Jersey Climate
Certainly not an issue now as shoulder season is upon us but as climate change intensifies in New Jersey, health experts are raising concerns about rising heat-related illnesses. During a state-hosted webinar, medical professionals outlined the risks, from heat cramps to life-threatening heat stroke, which can occur within minutes during extreme heat. Children, seniors, outdoor workers, and those with pre-existing conditions are especially vulnerable. Experts warn that heat-related deaths will likely rise as New Jersey experiences longer and more frequent periods of high temperatures. Resources for managing extreme heat are available on the state’s Heat Hub New Jersey website.
West Nile Virus Found in Somers Point Mosquitoes, No Human Cases Reported
The Atlantic County Division of Public Health warns residents to protect themselves from mosquito-borne diseases after a mosquito sample in Somers Point tested positive for West Nile virus. No human cases have been reported locally, but county officials urge preventive actions like using insect repellents and draining standing water. The county also reported New Jersey's first 2024 cases of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in both a human and a horse. For additional information about West Nile virus and mosquito-borne diseases, residents can visit the Atlantic County website or contact local health authorities. The county’s Office of Mosquito Control also offers assistance with removing stagnant water from properties.
Phillies Await Possible First-Ever Playoff Showdown with Mets
The Phillies and Mets could face each other in the playoffs for the first time if the Mets win their Wild Card series against the Brewers. After a chaotic stretch of travel, the Mets secured a crucial win, but both they and the Phillies present formidable challenges in the postseason. The Phillies, with key decisions on their rotation, hope to capitalize on their home-field advantage and rest while awaiting their next opponent.
