Police Request Tips to Identify Suspects in September 22 Restroom Assault

New Jersey's legislature has passed a bill increasing penalties for assaults on police officers, now awaiting the governor's approval. The bill classifies assaults causing serious bodily injury to law enforcement officers as a second-degree crime, with penalties including five to ten years in prison and fines up to $150,000. It also expands penalties for assaults involving bodily fluids and mandates disease testing for perpetrators, with results shared with victims. The law aims to deter attacks on police, firefighters, and emergency personnel.

Phillies Defy Analytics: Rob Thomson’s Approach to Starting Pitchers May Prove Crucial in October

Phillies manager Rob Thomson has bucked modern baseball trends by allowing his starting pitchers, like Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola, to pitch deep into games. Despite analytics suggesting that starters struggle the third time through a lineup, Thomson emphasizes reading each situation rather than relying solely on data. This strategy has helped the Phillies succeed and could give them an edge in the playoffs, as it also allows the bullpen to stay fresh for key moments.
