Cape May Zoo Seeks Pumpkins to Delight and Engage Its Animals

With fall here, the animals at the Cape May Zoo are joining in on the pumpkin fun. The zoo is requesting pumpkin donations to provide the animals with nutritious treats that also offer mental and physical stimulation. Pumpkins not only promote digestive health but also give animals the opportunity to engage in play and problem-solving. Visitors may even get to see a giraffe or otter interacting with a pumpkin bearing their name!

 In a daring rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater saved a man and his dog after their 36-foot sailboat became disabled and started taking on water about 25 miles off Sanibel Island on Thursday. The incident occurred as Hurricane Helene pummeled Florida with high winds and heavy rain, resulting in widespread flooding, power outages, and evacuations. Despite the challenging weather, the Coast Guard airlifted the man and his dog to safety, delivering them to Southwest Florida International Airport in stable condition. 

Man Arrested After Fleeing Crash, Found with Stolen Handgun in Atlantic City

A man fleeing from a car crash in Atlantic City was arrested after being found in possession of a stolen handgun. Joey Osias, 25, was located by police shortly after the crash. Osias now faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of a high-capacity magazine, receiving stolen property, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. The driver, Cimeron Oglesby, received traffic citations for careless driving and failing to report the accident.

Nationals Spoil Phillies' Night, Dodgers Secure Home Field for Playoffs

The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched home-field advantage for the postseason after the Philadelphia Phillies lost 6-3 to the Washington Nationals. A four-run eighth inning, highlighted by Joey Gallo's three-run homer, sealed the win for Washington. Despite strong pitching from Zack Wheeler, the Phillies couldn't hold off the Nationals. Both teams now look ahead to the Division Series on October 5.
