Whitesboro Church Leaders Sued for Abuse

Three men have filed $10 million lawsuits against Bethel Commandment Church of the Living God and its leaders, alleging sexual and physical abuse when they were minors. The lawsuits, filed by Pedro Luis Lopez, Ernell Norman Priester Jr., and William Adams Jr., accuse church officials of systematic abuse spanning decades. The plaintiffs also named Middle Township as a defendant for incidents allegedly occurring at township facilities. They are seeking damages for emotional distress and violations of the RICO Act, among other charges.

Supermoon and Partial Lunar Eclipse to Light Up Skies This Tuesday

A partial lunar eclipse and a supermoon will be visible on Tuesday night across the Americas and Wednesday morning in Europe and Africa. This celestial event combines a supermoon—when the moon appears larger due to its proximity to Earth—and a partial lunar eclipse, where part of the moon is shadowed by Earth. No special eye protection is required, and it can be viewed with the naked eye, binoculars, or a telescope. The event will last over four hours, peaking on September 17.

USS New Jersey Submarine Welcomes Male and Female Crew in Historic Launch

The U.S. Navy commissioned the USS New Jersey, a Virginia-class fast-attack submarine, on Saturday. This is the first submarine designed from the start to integrate male and female sailors, with accommodations to ensure privacy and functionality for both genders. The USS New Jersey, nicknamed "Jersey Girl," is the third Navy ship named after the state and is equipped with enhanced facilities for gender inclusion. The sub is nuclear-powered, 377 feet long, and can dive over 800 feet deep.

Phillies Walk Off Mets with Realmuto's Ninth-Inning Single

The Mets fell to the Phillies 2-1, dropping behind the Braves in the NL Wild Card race. Francisco Lindor returned to the lineup but was pulled early due to injury concerns. Tyrone Taylor's home run briefly gave the Mets a lead in the eighth, but the Phillies tied it with back-to-back doubles. Edwin Díaz allowed a walk-off single to J.T. Realmuto in the ninth, sealing the Phillies' win and putting the Mets in a tight spot for their playoff hopes.
