Cold War Relic: Inside New Jersey’s BOMARC Missile Site and Its Troubled Past.
The BOMARC missile site at Colliers Mills, New Jersey, part of Cold War defense against Soviet threats, became notable for a 1960 accident where a missile caught fire, causing a nuclear warhead to melt and contaminate the area with plutonium. Operational from 1959 to 1972, it’s now a historical site within the Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area, near Jackson Township, reminding us of its dual legacy of military vigilance and environmental hazard. The site’s troubled past underpins ongoing discussions about military safety and environmental protection.
NJ Offshore Wind Industry Eyes New Developers After Ørsted's Departure
The future of Ørsted's New Jersey wind farm leases looks promising with potential buyers showing interest due to improved economic conditions for offshore wind projects. Ørsted had previously abandoned the project due to financial issues, but with the Inflation Reduction Act's incentives and a favorable market, other developers are likely to take over. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management must approve any lease transfers, and New Jersey aims to advance its offshore wind goals, emphasizing a swift transition to a new developer to maintain progress in renewable energy initiatives.
Clemens’ Ninth-Inning Heroics Power Phillies Past Rays in 2-1 Thriller

Kyle Schwarber homered for Philadelphia, and Cristopher Sánchez threw six shutout innings. The Phillies secured their 48th home win of the season, maintaining their strong NL East lead.
