F-16 Intercepts Cessna Over Wildwood After Pilot Enters No-Fly Zone

A young pilot flying a Cessna out of Ocean City experienced a startling encounter when an F-16 military jet intercepted him over Wildwood for entering a no-fly zone. The pilot had inadvertently failed to check Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs), which are enforced for various security reasons, such as VIP movements or military exercises. He radioed the tower in Ocean City “N28PA here, I’ve got a jet flying close to me, is something wrong?”  When informed that he was flying in a restricted area, the pilot apologized and informed the tower he was heading straight back to Ocean City. No immediate consequences were reported following the violation.

Cape May County Wins: NJBPU Terminates Orsted Wind Projects

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) has terminated its approval of Orsted's Ocean Wind One and Ocean Wind Two projects after facing legal challenges from Cape May County. These projects were opposed on environmental and economic grounds, leading to lawsuits questioning the NJBPU’s approval. In a settlement, Orsted agreed to relinquish $175 million in escrow funds to cancel the approvals. The termination is seen as a victory for those opposing the projects, citing potential environmental risks highlighted by incidents in Nantucket where a turbine blade failure led to significant pollution. Cape May County's persistent opposition is credited with influencing Orsted's decision to withdraw from the projects, and further legal actions continue to address additional concerns.

Birthday Win for Manager Rob Thomson as Phillies Walk Off Against Nationals 3-2

During the Alumni Weekend opener at Citizens Bank Park, the Philadelphia Phillies secured a tense 3-2 victory over the Washington Nationals. Carlos Estevez struggled in a save opportunity, allowing the Nationals to tie the game in the ninth inning. However, the Phillies rallied back with Brandon Marsh's lead-off double, setting the stage for Trea Turner's walk-off single. Aaron Nola pitched effectively for 6.2 innings, keeping the Nationals scoreless during his time on the mound. The win marked the Phillies' third consecutive victory and provided a celebratory atmosphere for Manager Rob Thomson's birthday. The series continues with the Nationals as the Phillies look to maintain their momentum.
