Phillies Face Tough Series in California Amid Season Struggles
The Philadelphia Phillies are facing significant challenges, losing 14 out of their last 19 games, which has brought them uncomfortably close to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the standings. Despite the pressing need for victories, the team is focusing on playing rather than the standings. Manager Rob Thomson emphasizes the importance of winning against the Dodgers, particularly for securing potential postseason advantages. The team's struggle was highlighted in their latest game, a 5-3 loss to the Dodgers, marked by missed opportunities and crucial calls that didn't go their way. Key player Nick Castellanos acknowledges the team is in a "funk," but notes a positive team focus during the game. The Phillies hope to turn their luck around with better performances from their starters, specifically mentioning efforts to keep the rotation fresh and effective.
