Atlantic County Prosecutor Seeks Public's Help in Solving 1985 Cold Case

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is seeking public assistance in solving a decades-old murder case from the mid-1980s. Raul Suarez, affectionately known as "Cooks Books," was a beloved figure in Atlantic City. He earned his nickname while working at the 500 Club, as a local radio host, and as a taxicab driver.

Nearly four decades after the murder, the investigation remains active. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is renewing calls for public assistance in identifying the suspects. Anyone with information, no matter how minor, is urged to contact the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office at (609) 909-7800 to speak with a member of the Major Crimes Unit. Even the smallest detail could provide a significant breakthrough in this cold case.NJ Introduces Accessible Hub for Disability Resources

NJ Introduces Accessible Hub for Disability Resources

New Jersey officials launched a Disability Information Hub on July 26, coinciding with ADA Day and Disability Pride Month. The hub offers nearly 200 state programs and services for individuals with disabilities, their families, and caregivers. The hub organizes information by specific disabilities, providing tailored resources for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, visual impairments, and hearing impairments, including those who are deaf-blind. The site is designed for accessibility, featuring high-contrast colors and ASL videos.

Retail Boost: Old Navy to Open in Rio Grande This September

In the 1990s, residents of Cape May County had to travel 30 to 60 minutes to shop at major clothing stores, often venturing to malls in Atlantic and Cumberland Counties. However, over the past 25 years, Rio Grande has seen a significant transformation, attracting numerous stores to the area. The retail hub now centers around Route 9 and Route 47, near the Super Wawa Gas Station.

The good news is that Old Navy will move into the former Bed, Bath & Beyond space between the Aldi Food Market and the Ross Clothing Store. This addition will directly compete with nearby clothing stores like Marshalls and Ross.

A sign in the window of the former Bed, Bath & Beyond storefront announces that Old Navy is hiring, with plans to open the new store this fall. The San Francisco-based American clothing company, which has more than 1,100 store locations in the United States, is set to open its new location in September. As a result, the hiring process has already begun, with 14 positions currently listed on jobs.oldnavy.com.

Phillies' Early Lead Fizzles in Loss to Guardians

The Phillies struggled offensively and lost to the Guardians despite an early lead from two Kyle Schwarber home runs. Kolby Allard pitched well initially, but the game turned into a bullpen battle. The Guardians' bullpen outperformed the Phillies, with Jose Alvarado allowing a decisive home run to Steven Kwan. The Phillies will look to rebound against the Yankees.
