Cape May County Under Heat Advisory: NWS Issues Safety Guidelines

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Cape May County from Monday to Wednesday, with heat index values up to 107 degrees. The advisory includes tips for staying safe, such as staying hydrated, avoiding sun exposure, and recognizing symptoms of heat-related illnesses. Special recommendations for outdoor workers are also provided.

Cape May, Wildwood, and Ocean City Host Summer Baby Parades

Baby parades are returning to the Jersey Shore this summer in Cape May, Wildwood, and Ocean City. These parades feature young children in creative costumes, with trophies awarded in various categories.

Cape May's 91st annual baby parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 26. The parade will start at Congress Street and Beach Avenue, proceeding down Beach Avenue to Cape May Convention Hall.

Wildwood's 114th baby parade will start at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, beginning at the Convention Center, traveling north on the boardwalk to Cedar Avenue. Winners will be announced at the Cedar Avenue boardwalk.

Thursday, Aug. 8 Ocean City's parade starts on the boardwalk at Sixth Street with trophies handed out at the end. 10:30 a.m. start.

Participants can walk or ride in decorated strollers, kiddie cars, wagons, or carriages. Registration is free or low-cost, additional events like Wildwood's Baby Waddle Contest add to the fun.

Experience Live Music at Cape May's Summer Concert Series and Capestock Festival

Cape May is hosting the 2024 Summer Concert Series which started on July 7, featuring performers like Mac McAnally, Richard Thompson, Donavon Frankenreiter, and John Oates. The third annual Capestock Festival from August 16-18 will feature tribute bands playing the hits of Woodstock artists.  The Summer Concert Series shows will be held at Cape May Convention Hall, 714 Beach Avenue. Capestock concerts will take place on the beach behind Convention Hall. Tickets can be purchased in person at Cape May Convention Hall or online at CapeMayCity.com

Philadelphia Phillies Lead MLB with Eight All-Stars and Record-Breaking Season

The Philadelphia Phillies now have eight players on the National League All-Star team, tying the NL record. Cristopher Sánchez, replacing Chris Sale, joins the roster, marking his first All-Star appearance. The Phillies have set an MLB record with five All-Star pitchers. The team leads MLB with a 61-33 record and a +119 run differential.
