FAA Tests Lighted X Signs at
Cape May Airport for Runway Safety
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently carried out an important series of flight tests at Cape May Airport, aimed at evaluating the efficacy of lighted X signs. These signs are crucial for signaling closed runways to pilots. The unique approach of this study involved utilizing small aircraft to observe and analyze the visibility and effectiveness of these X signs from a pilot's viewpoint in real flight conditions.
This initiative underscores the FAA's commitment to enhancing safety and operational efficiency at airports by ensuring that runway closure signals are clearly visible and understood by aviators, thus preventing potential mishaps on the ground.

The Philadelphia Eagles have solidified their quarterback lineup by acquiring Kenny Pickett, the former starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, in a strategic trade, as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Eagles sent a 2024 third-round pick and two seventh-round picks in 2025 to the Steelers, gaining Pickett and a 2024 fourth-round pick in return.
This move comes after Pickett expressed a desire for a change following the Steelers' acquisition of Russell Wilson. Pickett, who began his NFL career as the No. 20 overall pick in the 2022 draft, has demonstrated his capabilities as a starter, holding a 14-10 record. Throughout his 25 games with the Steelers, he amassed 4,474 passing yards, along with 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
John McMullen of Birds 365 remarked on the trade, noting Pickett's experience and success as a starter, and called the acquisition a "clear upgrade" for the Eagles. Pickett is set to be the backup for Jalen Hurts, stepping in for Marcus Mariota, who recently signed with the Washington Commanders.
At 25, Pickett is no stranger to the Philadelphia area, having grown up in the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township and graduated from Ocean Township High School in 2017. He left a mark in high school football by leading the Spartans to the New Jersey Central Group III semifinal game in his junior year and accumulating impressive stats over his high school career, including 4,670 yards passing with 43 touchdowns, and rushing for 873 yards with 17 touchdowns.
Zack Wheeler to Lead Phillies as Opening Day Starter, Breaking Nola's Streak
Phillies' manager Rob Thomson revealed that Zack Wheeler is set to lead as the starting pitcher for the team on Opening Day. This decision places Wheeler at the forefront of the Phillies' season opener against the Braves on March 28 at Citizens Bank Park, marking his first career start in such a prestigious game. Wheeler, who has demonstrated remarkable performance throughout his tenure with the Phillies since 2020, will likely face off against Spencer Strider of the Braves, setting the stage for a compelling pitcher's duel.
This year's choice breaks Aaron Nola's consecutive Opening Day start streak for the Phillies at six. Nola, anticipated to start the season's second game, has shown support for Wheeler's selection, reflecting the team-oriented spirit within the Phillies. The shift in the starting lineup comes after careful consideration of both pitchers' spring performances and personal milestones, including Wheeler's recent family addition and contract extension.
Wheeler's spring training has shown promising signs, with his latest outing featuring a strong performance against the Blue Jays, despite a controversial home run by Joey Votto. As one of baseball's elite pitchers, Wheeler's record and ERA since joining the Phillies underscore his capabilities and the high expectations for the upcoming season opener.
The game against the Braves not only highlights Wheeler's pivotal role for the Phillies but also continues the team's recent tradition of success in opening weekend series against Atlanta, adding another layer of anticipation for fans and players alike.
