Revitalizing the Shore: $100M Infusion for Jersey Boardwalks
$100 Million Funding Boost for Iconic Jersey Shore Boardwalks
Iconic boardwalks along the Jersey Shore, including the pioneering walkway adjacent to Atlantic City's casinos and the storied promenade in Bruce Springsteen's early musical stomping ground, are set to receive a substantial financial injection. A total of $100 million has been allocated for the repair, reconstruction, or enhancement of these beloved coastal pathways. This funding initiative, announced by New Jersey officials on Friday, targets 18 seaside towns, aiming to rejuvenate the traditional wooden boardwalks that are quintessential to the region's charm and appeal.
This significant investment is sourced from the federal COVID-19 recovery funds provided by the American Rescue Act. It is intended to assist local shore towns in managing the considerable costs associated with maintaining, repairing, and fortifying these structures. Governor Phil Murphy emphasized the importance of boardwalks in creating lasting memories and highlighted the state's commitment to preserving these "wooden main streets" for future generations.
Acting Commissioner of the State Division of Community Affairs, Jacquelyn Suarez, noted the dual role of boardwalks as both vital economic drivers and costly infrastructure projects for local administrations. Among the beneficiaries, Atlantic City and Asbury Park's renowned boardwalks stand out, each earmarked for $20 million in funding. Atlantic City boasts the distinction of having the nation's first boardwalk, constructed in 1870 to keep hotel interiors sand-free, while Asbury Park is celebrated for its association with Bruce Springsteen, who fine-tuned his music in the local scene on his way to fame.

Exploring the Unknown: The Unyielding Quest of Paranormal Researchers
Exploring the Unexplained: The Realm of the Paranormal
The concept of the paranormal spans a broad spectrum of phenomena that defy conventional scientific understanding. It's a field that captivates the curiosity of many, leading to the pursuit of ghost hunting and investigations across the globe.
The term "paranormal" is used by researchers to describe experiences and phenomena that fall outside normal experiences and scientific explanations. These include occurrences that science currently cannot explain or measure and events that contradict the established understanding of the universe, despite rigorous empirical observation and scientific methodology. The quest for answers in the paranormal realm is a long and challenging journey, and it's understood that the mysteries it holds may not be unraveled within our lifetimes. However, the relentless dedication of believers and seekers ensures that we inch closer to understanding the unknown with each passing day.
In January 2009, the establishment of the Cape Atlantic Paranormal Research Society (CAPRS) marked a significant milestone in this quest. As a non-profit, educational corporation, CAPRS brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds, including law enforcement, business, art, medical professions, and more. What binds these varied members together is a shared fascination with the paranormal, coupled with a commitment to exploring, understanding, and educating others about this mysterious domain.
For those intrigued by the unknown, the Cape Atlantic Paranormal Research Society is presenting an enlightening session titled "What Is the Paranormal?" This event is set to take place on Tuesday, February 27, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Cape May Court House. It offers a unique opportunity for attendees to delve into the enigmatic world of paranormal phenomena, guided by experts passionate about uncovering what lies beyond the veil of our current understanding.
