New Cape May Trash Rules Would Cap Recyclables and Curbside Containers

Cape May is proposing a new ordinance to limit the volume of recyclables allowed for curbside pickup. At a recent Cape May City Council meeting, officials introduced a proposed ordinance that would impose limits on the volume of recyclables allowed for curbside pickup. The move comes after months of discussion and revisions aimed at creating a more equitable division of responsibility between the city and its residents and business owners. The changes would cap single and dual-family homes at 192 gallons, require lids on containers, and restrict pickup from properties with more than six bins. A public hearing is expected before a final vote on April 15, with implementation planned before the 2025 summer season.
Wildwoods Launch First “Thunder Over the Waves” Airshow with Major Aerial Lineup

The Wildwoods will host the first-ever "Thunder Over the Waves Airshow" on September 6, with a practice day on September 5. Featuring 11 headlining acts, including military flyovers, aerobatic teams, and parachute demonstrations, the event is expected to draw over 400,000 spectators. Organized by David Schultz Airshows and sponsored by GWTIDA, the free beachfront show aims to become an annual tradition that extends the region’s summer tourism season. The online publication, Wildwood Video Archive, has the lineup here.
New Mega Millions Format Offers Higher Payouts, Better Odds
Mega Millions is launching major changes on April 8, raising the minimum jackpot from $20 million to $50 million and improving prize odds. A new $5 ticket with a built-in multiplier will increase non-jackpot prizes and boost overall payouts. Even matching just the Mega Ball will offer higher rewards, now delivering prizes between $10 and $50 based on the drawn multiplier. The odds of winning the jackpot are also improving slightly. With the removal of one gold Mega Ball from the draw, the pool will now consist of 24 instead of 25. This change shifts the odds of hitting the jackpot from 1 in 302.6 million to 1 in 290.5 million. The overall odds of winning any prize will also improve slightly, from 1 in 24 to 1 in 23.
