AAA Reports Falling Gas Prices Across NJ, Expected to Continue Dropping
Gas prices in New Jersey have dropped below $3 per gallon, with prices expected to continue decreasing. Factors such as low gas demand, falling oil prices, and the switch to a cheaper winter blend of gasoline contribute to the decline. The statewide average price is $3.12 per gallon, down from $3.30 a month ago and significantly lower than the $5.05 peak in June 2022. Some stations are offering prices as low as $2.79 per gallon.
New Jersey Ranks 3rd Happiest State in America, Study Finds
New Jersey ranks as the 3rd happiest state in America, according to a survey by WalletHub. The state's residents score high in emotional and physical well-being, ranking 2nd in that category. Factors like low depression rates, low suicide rates, and a relatively high sense of productivity contribute to this ranking. Although improvements are needed in work environment and community aspects, New Jersey's focus on health and life satisfaction plays a major role in its residents' happiness.
Jamie’s Legacy Lives On Through Surfing Events for Individuals with Disabilities
Cindy and Bob Fertsch founded Heart of Surfing in 2014 to honor their late son Jamie, who loved the ocean. The organization hosts surfing events for children and adults with disabilities every weekend in the summer. A recent event was sponsored by Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which contributed volunteers, equipment, and a $5,000 donation. Jamie's memory continues to inspire the nonprofit's mission. Heart of Surfing is a grassroots, local organization – made up of incredible volunteers that believe that everyone has the ability to participate and have fun. Our mission is to create positive experiences for individuals with autism and/or other developmental disabilities through recreational activities. We offer surfing, skateboarding/scootering, roller skating, ice skating and more!
Stevenson’s Heroics and Harper’s Homers Propel Phillies Past Mets
Cal Stevenson, who questioned his place in baseball last year, played a key role in the Phillies’ 6-4 win over the Mets. Stevenson hit a game-winning double and made a crucial catch, helping the Phillies reduce their magic number to clinch the NL East to seven. Bryce Harper also homered twice, his first since August 9. Kolby Allard struggled early, but the Phillies' bullpen shut down the Mets in the later innings. The win marked a strong comeback as the Phillies fight for playoff positioning.
