Happy Gilmore Sequel to Be Shot in NJ—Casting Call for Local Talent

It's hard to believe that nearly 30 years have passed since the release of Happy Gilmore. For those who haven't seen the classic, it follows Happy, a wannabe professional ice hockey player who turns to golf in a desperate bid to save his grandmother's home.

Now, with Happy Gilmore 2 in the works, anticipation is building. While the plot is still under wraps, one thing is certain: the sequel will be filmed right here in New Jersey.

Even more exciting, Grant Wilfley Casting is on the hunt for a photo double to appear in the movie. They’re searching for a white male, aged 18 or older, between 5’9” and 5’11”, with short dark hair and a slim build. This role is a background part covered by the SAG-AFTRA CBA, and the selected actor will earn $253 per day.

Gillian’s Wonderland Pier to Close After 94 Years on Ocean City Boardwalk

Gillian’s Wonderland Pier, a 94-year-old family-run amusement park in Ocean City, will close after this summer due to financial hardships. Owner Jay Gillian, announced the closure, expressing deep regret and gratitude for the memories made there. Despite a 2021 partnership with Icona Resorts, the park's financial struggles persisted, leading to its closure. The future of the landmark site remains uncertain, with Icona's CEO stating that plans for the property will be evaluated by the end of the year.

Gillian, who has worked at the park since he was 13, expressed the emotional difficulty of the decision, acknowledging that the business is no longer sustainable. The multi-year lease on the property will end in a few months, and while the property will no longer be under his control, Gillian was unable to comment on its future.

Reflecting on nearly five decades of his own commitment to the park, Gillian shared that after 47 years on the boardwalk, he must now retire, closing both Gillian’s Wonderland Pier and the associated 6th Street Pizza and Grill. He reminisced about the joy the park has brought to many, himself included, over the years. The park, famous for its iconic white and red castle facade and its 144-foot Giant Wheel, has long been a symbol of Ocean City’s charm, visible from miles away and known for its historic 1926 carousel.

Phillies lose 3-2 on Rookies Walk off Homer

Adrian Del Castillo, the Arizona Diamondbacks' rookie, made a dramatic entrance into the major leagues by hitting a walk-off home run for his first career homer, sealing a 3-2 victory against the Philadelphia Phillies. This historic moment marked Del Castillo as the first in Diamondbacks' history to achieve such a feat. His opportunity arose following the placement of starting catcher Gabriel Moreno on the 10-day injured list due to a groin strain. Before his call-up from Triple-A Reno, where he boasted a .319 average with 24 homers and 70 RBIs, Del Castillo was 4-for-7 with three RBIs, a double, and the notable home run since joining the Diamondbacks. The team, riding high with a 15-5 record post-All-Star break, faces the Phillies again, hoping Del Castillo's remarkable performance continues.
