Football Game Ends in Tragedy: Young Player and Officer Killed in Ocean View Collision
A tragic accident in Ocean View on Sept. 12 claimed the lives of 9-year-old Easton Beisler and corrections officer Addiel A. Ortiz. The crash occurred when a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by Lauren Beisler, turned into the path of Ortiz's motorcycle near a sports complex. Both victims were declared dead at the scene. Easton, a peewee football player, and Ortiz, a football coach, are mourned by their families and communities. GoFundMe pages have been set up for both families.
NJ Renters and Homeowners Must Act by Sept. 15 to Secure ANCHOR Tax Benefits
More than 1.4 million New Jersey residents will receive automatic ANCHOR property tax benefits this year, but those with changes in personal information (like bank account, address, or name) must update their details by Sept. 15 to ensure payments are processed. Homeowners and renters who haven't received a confirmation letter or applied previously can still apply by Nov. 30. Payments may arrive as early as October for completed applications. The program offers relief between $500 and $1,750 for qualified participants. More information about this program is available at anchor.nj.gov. Applicants may also call the ANCHOR hotline at (609) 826-4282 or 1-888-238-1233, or get in-person assistance at a Regional Information Center.
Halloween Thrills Await on Clinton Road, NJ’s Spookiest Destination
As soon as September arrives, many enthusiasts begin celebrating the "spooky season," and for those in New Jersey, there's one place that tops the list of eerie attractions. Clinton Road in West Milford, Passaic County is a popular destination for thrill-seekers during the Halloween season, but it's not for the faint of heart. Located off Route 23 in West Milford, this infamous road invites those brave enough to experience its dark and mysterious history firsthand. Clinton Road is a 10-mile stretch of paved road known for its unsettling atmosphere and numerous reports of paranormal activity. The road winds through a heavily wooded area, with no houses, businesses, or connecting roads nearby, adding to its sense of isolation and mystery. For years, visitors have shared chilling accounts of strange occurrences, including ghost sightings, satanic rituals, and encounters with bizarre creatures like the infamous "hell hound." One of the most haunting legends associated with Clinton Road involves the Cross Castle, built near the road in 1905 and mysteriously burned down just 14 years later. According to local lore, those who venture close to the castle's remains might witness ghostly apparitions. Just in time for the Halloween season.
Mets' Trio of Homers Powers 11-3 Rout Over Phillies
The Mets’ offense, after a recent slump, showed signs of breaking out with a late surge in Wednesday’s game against the Blue Jays. They will face the Phillies, who are battling injuries but still pose a potent threat, especially with Bryce Harper’s hot streak. New York’s bullpen is well-rested, and Ryne Stanek could emerge as the top setup reliever. Luis Severino continues his strong stretch with a 1.95 ERA over his last five starts, positioning him as a key player for the Mets in this upcoming series.
